It’s one of those bands, that you struggle with describing, because
their music speak for itself.
I’ve been a fan for a while now, and through all these years their style
has been changing so much, you cannot really say “That’s what they play. That’s
what define their music.”
There are people who criticize them for their inconstancy. They are
people who accuse them of being americanized.
And I’d say – either deal with it or quit.
ONE OK ROCK
Current members, from the left: Toru (electric guitar), Tomoya (bass),
Taka (vocal, piano), Ryota (drums)
They are a japanese band, formed in 2005. Long enough to gain a massive popularity and
produce successful albums and singles. Their songs are one of those that would stuck in your head for a long
long time. Apart from being catchy, the huge advantage of theirs’ is Taka’s
voice. Which is to put it simply – incredibly good. His voice is actually the
first thing that caught my attention, a wide range of it. From smoothness in
ballads to scratchiness in fast, rock songs.
Besides, what makes them really appealing, and what makes them so
popular abroad is that they sing in both japanese and english – that’s their characteristic
trait, I guess.
There’s just something about them that makes you listen to them.
I admire their charisma and enthusiasm at concerts and their unceasing
will to explore music.
But there are also the lyrics – now, they are truly inspiring. I feel
like their point is to let people see how beautiful the world is. Of course
there are many things that affect us or life in general, and that’s perfectly
understandable. But the message is – keep going, do your thing, live with no
regret. That’s the way to live a happy life, basically, as corny as it sounds.
Try them out, maybe you’ll also find yourself carried along by their
music.
You have seen
hell and made it back again
How to forget? We can’t forget
The lives that were lost along the way
And then you realize that wherever you go
There you are
Time won’t stop
So we keep moving on
How to forget? We can’t forget
The lives that were lost along the way
And then you realize that wherever you go
There you are
Time won’t stop
So we keep moving on
